Remission Continues

Every month is the unknown when it comes to cancer. You may feel fine, but your blood work numbers could be off. Most of Jason’s cancer journey he didn’t feel sick, until treatment start that is. His cheeks/neck got very puffy but in general he felt okay. The only true telling that he had cancer was his blood work numbers, and then eventually his bone marrow biopsy and CT scans. The blood work is crucial when you have cancer. It may be simple, but it tells so much about what’s going on inside of your body.

Jason started with having to have follow-ups with his oncologist every three-months and eventually it got pushed to every six-months. Every doctor appointment we basically hold our breath and pray that everything will come back okay. His numbers will stay in the normal range. I used to go to all of Jason’s appointments, but it got to the point where my presence just wasn’t needed anymore. So now I get to sit at work, impatiently waiting for his phone call after his appointment.

Well, today Jason had his six-month follow-up appointment with his oncologist AND he remains in remission!! He is now 4 years and 3 months in remission!! And since he is doing so well, his oncologist said we can push it back to nine-months between visits instead of six-months! This is HUGE in the cancer world. So many praises to God as he continues to keeps Jason in his care.
