The Re-Match

January 2019 started out like any new year. New goals, new mindsets, etc. Jason and I decided that 2019 would be our year of change. What type of change? Who really knew? But change was going to happen.

A few days into the new year I did my normal reach out to the caseworker to see what was new and if there were any new emails that came in. With the holidays and all I figured things were probably a bit slow so I was not expecting much. After a brief conversation our caseworker said, “Actually, there is something new.” She told me about the girls we had been matched with back in October the previous year and how things didn’t work out with the relative that came forward and the girls were available again. She asked if we were still interested and without even thinking I said, “Yes, absolutely!” I mean I knew I had to talk it over with Jason first, but if we were a yes in October I figured we’d be a yes again. So our caseworker re-summited our home study to the caseworker for the girls and again we waited.

One year ago today on January 16th we received another phone call. We were re-matched AGAIN! We were told that when the girls caseworker saw our home study on the very bottom of her pile, she was thrilled. She said she wasn’t feeling it with the other home studies (and there were a ton of home studies), and she was hoping that we would re-submit our home study so when she saw ours at the very bottom of the pile she knew we were the right fit.

We scheduled a new meeting with the caseworkers and received new background information about what all took place since our meeting in the beginning of October in 2018 through now.

This rollercoaster ride wasn’t finished yet, and we eagerly hopped aboard the ride anxious of the unknown of what was ahead for us. We had already experienced so many twists and turns on this journey, we were ready (or so we thought) for what was next to come. We were now set to meet the girls. Let the fun begin.
